Belgian Innovation Shines at one of China’s most modern aviation hubs: ADB SAFEGATE and Flemish Brabant Delegation in Chengdu
Early May in Chengdu, with jacaranda blossoms painting the streets in blue, the city once again became a bridge for international cooperation. From May 12, a high-level delegation from the Belgian Province of Flemish Brabant, led by Governor Jan Spooren, visited Chengdu to participate in the annual sister cities conference and related exchange activities. The deep partnership between Flemish Brabant and Chengdu, established in 2011, has fostered collaboration in investment, trade, culture and education.

As a highlight of the visit, the delegation, accompanied by Mr. Guan Peng, Vice President and General Manager of ADB SAFEGATE China, visited Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. Supported by the Chengdu Foreign Affairs Office and the Belgian Embassy, the visit aimed to showcase Belgian expertise and ADB SAFEGATE’s contribution to one of China’s most modern aviation hubs.

The Safedock A‑VDGS, now in use at thousands of airports worldwide, has brought Tianfu Airport’s operational standards on par with leading domestic and international aviation hubs.

During the visit, Mr. Guan Peng not only proudly introduced the operation principles and significance of these systems to the delegation in the control room, but also led the group to the apron area for an on-site demonstration. There, he showcased how ADB SAFEGATE’s innovative technologies ensure safe and efficient airport operations—from precise aircraft docking to real-time lighting monitoring.

Governor Spooren expressed his appreciation for the company’s role in enabling such high standards at Tianfu Airport, and encouraged ADB SAFEGATE to continue bringing world-class innovation to China’s aviation sector.

The exchange didn’t end on the apron.
