From business discussions to football celebrations: Benelux–Shenyang connections
On June 20th, the Benelux Chamber had the pleasure of visiting Shenyang for a day filled with meaningful exchanges, new connections, and opportunities for future cooperation.
As one of Northeast China's important economic centers, Shenyang has developed strong capabilities across manufacturing, technology, and international business cooperation. During the visit, the Benelux Chamber explored opportunities to further strengthen the ties between Shenyang and the Benelux region.
Strengthening trade and business cooperation
The day began with a bilateral meeting with the Vice Mayor of Shenyang Wenzhe ZHANG Zhang Wenzhe. During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on economic development, trade opportunities, and ways to encourage deeper cooperation between companies from Shenyang and the Benelux countries.
The meeting highlighted the shared interest in creating more opportunities for businesses from both regions to connect, exchange knowledge, and explore potential partnerships.
Connecting with Shenyang's business community
Following the meeting, President Antoine Bruneel and Vice President Pierre Mirochnikoff joined an entrepreneur roundtable with representatives from companies based in Shenyang.
The roundtable provided valuable insights into Shenyang's economic achievements and industrial development, while also offering an opportunity for direct dialogue with local entrepreneurs and business leaders.
Through these exchanges, the Benelux Chamber gained a deeper understanding of the opportunities and strengths of the Shenyang business environment.
Building bridges through language and connection
A special moment during the event was Antoine Bruneel’s speech, delivered in Chinese. He reaffirmed the Benelux business community’s interest in further strengthening its presence in Shenyang and developing closer cooperation with local partners.
Speaking directly to the local audience in Chinese reflected the importance of communication, mutual understanding, and building relationships based on trust
Beyond business: sharing experiences and culture
The day continued with an outdoor buffet, offering a relaxed environment for further conversations and exchanges. Together with local partners, we celebrated Shenyang's hospitality and enjoyed the highly anticipated football derby between Shenyang and Dalian.
The visit was a valuable reminder that international cooperation is built not only through formal meetings, but also through personal connections, shared experiences, and lasting relationships. The Benelux Chamber looks forward to continuing to build bridges between the Benelux and Shenyang, creating new opportunities for collaboration and exchange.
